News from the world of Sword and Sarcasm!

And cruising toward the wrap-up of the second story arc. Next Monday, Chapter 3: Ruffled Feathers begins!

A few weeks back we mentioned how the late George Carlin had inspired part of this sequence. He put out a book in 1990 or so called Sometimes A Little Brain Damage Can Help, and among other things it included a number of his fake news stories. One news brief noted how "In Italy, a statue of Jesus came to life and started giving fishing tips." Absurdly funny in the famous Carlin style — and when we needed an absurdity for the basis of commerce in the tall tale Herbert was telling... well, there it was.

We'll miss ya, George!

And a new page here on the site — check out The Quest to get the fast lowdown on the events in Sword & Sarcasm — along with a guide to the characters. More to come there, but we figured we'd get it started!

And the truth behind the econo-wolves is revealed!

Welcome to another week — and no, we had no idea when conceiving this storyline how obsessed the news would be with finance when these strips finally ran! Maybe the Choral Jinn knew...

Economics has been called "the dismal science" — and it looks like Benedict's feeling pretty dismal right now!

And welcome to another fine summer week (at least here in the Northern Hemisphere). Chuck and John are busy working out the details of the third storyline, starting here next month – stay tuned for more details!

And now we get a little further into some of the screwball world that surrounds Benedict's lands in Sword & Sarcasm. Pretty much nothing is as anyone would expect!

John's just back from Wizard World Chicago — it was great seeing everyone! Got to catch up with a lot of webcomics folk — including John Kovalic, whose Dork Tower is the Energizer Bunny (is that reference even used anymore?) of comics. Drop by and check it out!

Sounds like Benedict's gotten in trouble again. Big surprise!

We're both down over the passing of George Carlin — John has some remembrances over on his Faraway Looks blog. He'll be missed — he inspired a lot. (Including, coincidentally, a bit coming up here in a few weeks. More on that later.)

Finally — if you're going to Wizard World Chicago this weekend, drop by the Dark Horse Comics booth. John will be signing there starting at noon on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. See you then!
