Keepers of the Chronicles!

official recorders of the exploits of Herbert and Benedict

After completing his last performance in the role of "Chuck," in the fumetti comedy troupe, "Fandom Confidential," CHUCK FIALA dedicated himself to the art of drawing funny pictures. His work was seen internationally in such comics features as Bugs Bunny, Tiny Toon Adventures, Tazmania, and Ralph Bakshi's Cool World. He also wrote an issue of Roger Rabbit's Toontown for the Disney comic book company and inked the DC comics favorite, Stanley and his Monster. Chuck currently resides in the heartland of the United States of America with his wife, Avis.

When he's not keeping track of Herbert and Benedict, JOHN JACKSON MILLER is a writer, game designer, and comics historian. His comics work includes Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Indiana Jones, Iron Man, and Bart Simpson; he's also done work for the Star Wars Role-Playing Game and various other projects. Information about them all appear on his fiction site. He's written several books about comics, is a columnist for Comics Buyer's Guide and Newsarama, and maintains the comics research site The Comics Chronicles. Whew!

Sarcasm... with a sword!

Meet Duke Benedict, ruler of the Duchy of Tyranto. He’s not the greatest ruler in the world... OK, he’s actually the worst! And his people think so, too — which is why they took the very bright step of throwing him out on his ear. But he doesn’t give up that easily. Like the plague, he keeps coming back!

Which brings us to
Herbert. A mercenary by trade, he claims to be a minotaur -- and Duke Benedict originally thinks he's the answer to retaking his kingdom. But Benedict soon learns that Herbert is under a number of curses -- including having to follow the most obnoxious soul in the land ... him!

Fortunately for Benedict and Herbert — or perhaps unfortunately — they're not the only victim of transformative magic. When his apprentice Casmerelda gave him the cold shoulder, wizard Jelron the Beige cast a spell fusing her and her kitten familiar — turning her into a cat-girl sorceress! She didn't mind much — as it brought out her inner self, making her a happier, furrier person. But she'd still like to teach her former master a thing or two!
